Cruise to the Bahamas

You might be wondering why I haven’t blogged in a few days. Well, this weekend I went on a 3-night Royal Caribbean cruise to the Bahamas (FYI you know you have an awesome job when they take 82 employees on a cruise to the Bahamas). In between all of the team building activities and meetings, I was able to explore Nassau and Cococay.

When you first get to Nassau you may be disappointed with how ratchet it looks. But you kind of have to power through because while you may have to hold your purse a little tighter than your used to, there are some great gems. We ended up going to Senior Frogs where we drank, danced and even participated in something they called a “Shot Conga Line” – it’s exactly as it sounds. It gets pretty interesting when you mix your co-workers with alcohol.  And by interesting I mean bats*** crazy.

We then headed to the beach and stopped at a little hut for some awesome drinks and even decided to go swimming in the ocean. Just a tip – when you swim in the water right before sunset make sure you have a towel on you. Or you may be forced to barter with a local for a $15 towel.

After the impromptu swim we were heading back to the ship when we saw a block party on the beach with all the locals dancing on a ridiculously rickety stage. At the time it seemed like a great idea to join. And while I was pretty sure the stage was going to collapse at any moment with everyone jumping on it, I had a blast.

Cococay was probably my favorite stop of the trip. The only down side was that we had meetings until 1 and the ship was leaving the port at 5:00pm. So you only had a good three hours to enjoy the private island.

I’m really lucky that my little in my fraternity (yes, I said fraternity. It’s co-ed people!) also works at the same company. So I spent the day with her and another co-worker paddle boarding and enjoying the sun. The water was so clear and honestly, where else can you take a selfie like this in November?

While every vacation has to end it was such a good time getting to know my coworkers better and spending the weekend someplace new! Anyone else going on a not-so winter getaway?

    1. Yes I am super lucky! And paddle boarding isn't too bad! You just have to have some balance (hence why I'm sitting down in the pic haha) :)

  4. What a perfect mini-trip for this time of year when it's starting to get all cold and miserable! Looks absolutely lovely.

I'm off to St Lucia soon which should be great this time of year. Can't wait!
